PODIATRY EDUCATION AND RESEARCH ACCOUNT

 

Section 126 of the Podiatrists Act provides that the Board shall establish a Podiatry Education and Research Account into which such amounts as are determined by the Minister for Health shall be paid by the Board from fees collected under the Act.

 

Pursuant to section 126 of the Act the monies in the account may be used for any of the following purposes:

(a)  podiatry education;
(b)  education and research for any public purpose connected with the practice of podiatry;
(c)  the publication and distribution of information concerning the Act and the Regulations;
(d)  meeting administrative expenditure incurred with respect to the Account and the purposes for which it is used;

or any related purpose.

As at 30 June 2003 there was in excess of $22,000.00 in the Podiatry Education and Research Account.

Application procedures

The Board has developed a protocol and application form for disbursements from the Podiatry Education and Research Account.  The closing date for receipt of applications is 31 October each year. 

Copies of the protocol and application form are available from the Secretary of the Board.
